1. Home screen: more functional

Apple is redefining the iOS homescreen around this time. The App Library is a new space at the end of your homescreen that automatically divides applications into larger, more visual folders. At the top is a search bar, and Apple is using on-device intelligence to bring together the recommended apps and the most used apps. There is even a dedicated Apple Arcade folder and one for your recently downloaded apps.

2. Widget: Changeable and customizable

Widgets have been added to iOS as well. These widgets can be resized and they look better than before. Instead of being locked in Today View, you can add them to your homescreen and they take the place of your normal applications. Apple has shown a few smart widgets and a few examples for podcasts and weather. All of these examples look much better than previous widgets, and we assume that developers will be able to create their own widgets in their apps to bring this functionality across boards. The iPad and iPadS will also get this feature. Users have been looking for this update on the homescreen for years, and finally Apple has added it.

3. Picture-in-Picture: A great feature of the iPad is finally added to the iPhone

Picture-in-Picture has been on the iPad for quite some time, but with iOS 14 it has been newly added to the iPhone. When you play a video and close an application, it will automatically shrink to a player, and that video window will be resizable like the iPad. Although this feature has been on Android for a long time, iOS users are quite fond of its addition.

4. Siri: Finally a new design

Siri can never go out of its way to talk about updates to Apple iOS. Apple has gifted a large virtual assistant with new skills and plenty of new designs. Siri now brings new animations and will provide specific widgets for questions like ‘How does the weather feel?’ Siri finally supports messaging and advanced translation support for the new translation application. Requests for these translations work offline, so no internet connection is required. Apple says the word "Siri Virtual Assistant" is three times more true than it was three years ago - so it should be better than before.

5. Translator: A new application

A new app "Translator" has been added to iOS 14. It rivals Google Translator and can translate text or voice into 11 different languages. And this application will work offline.

6. Default apps:

Although it is not mentioned on the platform, iOS 14 has added the option to set the default applications for email and web-browsing.

7. Messages:

Messages has a lot of new features coming up and most of it has been inspired by competitive applications like WhatsApp. For example, chats can now be pinned to the top of the app, and more expressions and customizations have been added for Mimoji.

8. Accessibility:

Inside the accessibility settings there is a special feature called "back tap" and it allows you to do multiple taps on the back of the phone such as screenshots, silent or other work. Separate commands can be set for two taps and three taps.

9. App Clips:

Application Clip is an effective mini application that only appears when needed and does not force you to download the entire application.

10. Privacy Policy:

In iOS 14, Apple says it is providing more control over privacy and data. There's a new recording indicator (basically a small orange dot above the signal bar) that alerts you whenever a mic or camera is being used, including detailed privacy information inside the App Store.

Many more features have been added including compact calls, maps, home apps, safari privacy policy, car-keys.
